The North of Chile

The north of Chile is a wonderful place to enjoy stunning landscapes, fascinating culture, and a rich history.

The climate in the north is of a desert type (the Atacama Desert is considered one of the driest in the world), with varying degrees of dryness depending on the latitude, and significant temperature variations between day and night.

The region is rich in minerals (such as copper, lithium, etc.), and it also boasts the highest concentration of pre-Columbian civilization remains. The North is also a privileged area for astronomy, with numerous observatories and researchers from around the world gathering to observe the sky and its stars.

The main cities in the northern part of the country are Arica, Iquique, Calama, Antofagasta, Copiapó, and La Serena. Touristic interests: national parks in the highlands, beaches of Arica and Iquique, Atacama Salt Flat, petroglyphs, pukarás (pre-Columbian fortresses), geothermal activity, astronomical observatories, geology, fauna, and flora…
